Expressive Arts Therapy

On its own, talk can sometimes trap us in habitual modes of thinking and perceiving.  The arts however, open up a multitude of ways to authentically express ourselves as individuals, family members or members of a community.  Exploration and expression through creative means enables new insights and understandings to emerge.  By reaching into our imagination, we are able to bring fresh energy, inspiration and innovation to the resolution of personal and collective struggles.

The expressive arts provide a rich and embodied way to share feelings, discover inner strengths, make meaning out of suffering and bond with others.

By using symbol, metaphor and archetypal imagery, we explore the link between personal experience, collective knowledge and universal themes.   In recognizing these connections, we are able to transcend isolation, cultivate perspective and move forward with greater ease, energy and awareness.

The expressive arts include drawing, painting, movement, dance, music, text, and drama.
